New Vauxhall Insignia Wins Top Award
Published Date: 4th Dec 2008
Good news for Vauxhall with its recently launched Insignia model – it has just been awarded European Car of the Year for 2009. The new model Ford Fiesta came in at a very close second place. This is the first time Vauxhall has won the award since 1987.
Fifty nine motoring journalists from twenty three countries make up the jury for the European Car of the Year award and they look for the most outstanding new car to go on sale within the past twelve months – each car must be on sale in at least five European countries.
Thirty seven cars were put forward for the prestigious award and seven were shortlisted for the overall prize. The other five models within the top seven were the VW Golf, the Citroen C5, the Alfa Romeo MiTo, the Skoda Superb and the Renault Megane.
