New Vauxhall Insignia to Debut at British Motor Show
Published Date: 31st Jan 2008
Vauxhall hopes the new Insignia will shift the perception of the Vauxhall marque to a more aspirational level with its dynamic design and class leading technology.
Alain Visser, Chief Marketing Officer of General Motors Europe said ‘Dynamic performance is one of the Vauxhall brand’s core values. In the new Insignia, this defining characteristic is realised by sophisticated powertrain technology, active safety and the interface between driver and car’. He added ‘A closer look at our groundbreaking GTC concept car gives a good idea of how exciting Vauxhall’s new design language will be.’
The new Vauxhall Insignia is larger than the Vectra model it replaces and is based on General Motor’s new Epsilon 2 platform. The new model will include electronically controlled four wheel drive transmission and a revised version of the current Vectra VXR’s electronic adaptive dampers so a choice of either Sport or Comfort settings will be available.
The new Vauxhall Insignia range will include a flagship VXR model although this will not be available until a later date. The VXR model is set to compete with the likes of the Audi A4 and will include a choice of a turbocharged V6 petrol or diesel engine plus a new 4-wheel drive system. It will be available in a range of styles – hatch, saloon and estate and is set to cost only around £25,000.
