New Toyota Hybrid X at Geneva Motor Show

Published Date: 16th Mar 2007

Toyota has revealed its new Hybrid X concept car at the Geneva Motor Show this March.

The Hybrid X is a 4-door, 4-seater ‘open-space concept’.   It has the same dimensions as a standard family car but the pillar structure of the car helps it to achieve better aerodynamics which is also helped by an integrated rear spoiler. The rear seats can be swivelled by 12% so that rear seat passengers can better enjoy the scenery.

Thierry Dombreval, of Toyota Europe, says ‘Over the next few years we plan to double our global hybrid vehicle offering, anticipating annual sales of over a million hybrid vehicles by early in the next decade’.    Toyota and Lexus now have 11 hybrid vehicles and have sold 900,000 worldwide.

Toyota has also showed its Future Toyota – Hybrid Sports (FT-HS) at Geneva.  This model was already shown recently at the Detroit Motor Show.  The FT-HS can achieve 0-60mph in 4 seconds and has 400bhp.

These new concept models show Toyota's vision for the future of environmentally friendly technology and these designs will influence its entire brand and hybrid models for the future.
