Published Date: 22nd Sep 2016

Nissan released an industry first vehicle at the 2016 Hannover Motor Show. This New Nissan Navara EnGuard has a durable, tough and quite menacing exterior and its single aim is to operate as a rescue vehicle – dealing with all the different and challenging terrains our planet has to offer.

The New Nissan Navara EnGuard builds on the Tekna version of the pickup truck – the current holder of the International Pick-up Award – the Navara EnGuard Concept has a vast range of extra design elements and performance upgrades. It is also loaded with essential equipment fitting for emergency and disaster situations and includes an innovative drone to provide vital information about what dangers rescue crews might tackle.

The Navara Enguard release also coincides with the world debut of a prototype portable battery pack, designed and developed by Nissan. It utilises Nissan’s tried and tested EV battery technology, and is now available on the road in the 100 % cent electric new Nissan LEAF and new e-NV200. With more than quarter of a million Nissan Electric Vehicles sold worldwide, the company is on the frontline of this super fast-growing industry and is strategically placed to operate its expertise to discover new vehicle sectors and consumer opportunities in the impending future.

When docked in place the battery packs are constantly in ‘charge’ mode, using power generated by the vehicle’s 2.3-litre 190PS twin-turbo diesel engine to ensure they’re ready for emergency use when required. Each of the 2 power units has a 2KW capacity and utilises seven Nissan EV battery modules inside weather-resistant machined aluminum housing.
