New Nissan Murano revealed
Published Date: 14th Apr 2014
While Nissan are still deciding whether to release the New Murano here in the UK, we take a sneak peak at what’s on offer from Nissan’s latest generation Murano.
This is the 3rd instalment of the Nissan Murano and has resonance style design from the concept they released at the last Detroit Motor Show. Nissan are using the new Murano to expand their new forward-thinking SUV range, adding to the very popular Nissan Qashqai and the new look Nissan X-Trail.
The Nissan Murano was recently dropped from the UK range on offer, due to poor sales. Nissan have said that they are contemplating a comeback for the Murano due to a re-evaluation on the current UK Car Market. With the new Nissan X-Trail in the pipeline, the car manufacturer believes there is a gap to be filled and they imagine the Murano could be the answer.
The Murano benefits from newly designed boomerang lights and the new floating roof from the Resonance concept, it also has design features similar to the latest generation Qashqai and X-trail respectively. This car has an excellent centre piece, the prominent chrome grill and has a very stylish sloped roof to boot. It also has bulging stand-out wheel arches and a raising waistline, which help break up the increased proportions.
Nissan have cleverly added an “upscale social lounge interior” from the resonance concept, where the instrument panel has been lowered and have installed a new 8-inch colour display. This new display has many functions and reduces the number of buttons needed to contend with. You can also add an additional 7-inch display to the instrument grouping.
Nissan have really aimed to impress with new technology on the new Murano, with new NASA-inspired front and rear zero gravity seats to minimize muscular strain, which is standard on all models. The new Nissan Murano also benefits from the following features: an optional 11 speaker Bose surround sound system, heated steering wheel, dual-zone air conditioning, power folding rear seats and remote engine start.
One of the new engines looks like this: a new 257bhp 3.5-litre V6 is available for the power hungry in 2WD or 4WD, Fuel economy is also improved by 20% thanks to a weight loss programme which helped the new Murano lose 59kg against the current model. There are also state of the art aerodynamic upgrades and new engine developments.
