New Name for Vauxhall Vectra
Published Date: 21st Jan 2007
Vauxhall is due to stop using the name Vectra when it launches its new family model in the middle of 2008. The Geneva Motor Show in March 2007 will see the unveiling of the new model with the actual production model on show at the Geneva show the following year – before going on sale in 2008. It is rumoured that the new model will be called Insignia.
Carl-Peter Forster, the President of Vauxhall’s parent company General Motors Europe, commented that the new model would be 'a radical departure' from the current model and that the Vectra name would be dropped to reflect this change.
The new model is set to feature Vauxhalls’ new 178bhp 1.6litre turbo petrol engine, a 138bhp 1.8litre VVT petrol engine, a new 200bhp V6 diesel engine and possibly a 168bhp 1.9litre diesel engine.
