New Mercedes S-Class Coupe

Published Date: 7th Aug 2014

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the new S-Class Coupe will hit the shelves in the UK this September on the new 64 Plate, with prices starting from £96,565 on the road.

You will find yourself having to wait a little longer if you want to keep the price under £100,000 though, with only the S63 and S65 being available from the UK 64 Plate launch, and the S500 will arrive a few months later.

This latest generation S-Class Coupe is due to arrive here in the UK this September on the 64 plate, priced at a hefty £96,565 for the entry-level model (S500 AMG Line variant), and can rise to at least £183,065 for the higher S65 AMG models.

Mercedes has developed a new engine specific to the AMG Model - the 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 S65 AMG, which was revealed last month is going to cost us £183,065. It sports 621bhp and 1,000Nm of torque, it sees off 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds. The S500 will offer a slightly lower 449bhp and 700Nm when it comes shortly after.

Starting things this year, will be the S63 AMG Coupe starting from £124,715 and featuring a 577bhp 5.5-litre V8 borrowed from the saloon version. With the engine electronically limited to 155mpg, 0-62mph can be surpassed in 3.9 seconds, with 27.9mpg and emitting 237g/km CO2.

The optional extras across the range come in the form a new panoramic sun roof with Magic Sky Control, a refrigerated fridge compartment to keep drinks cool, and a wide choice of red brake callipers in S63 and S65 models respectively.

A few more styling add-ons include Mercedes' self-explanatory AMG Exterior Carbon-fibre Package, which will set you back £5,000, and the Night Package from AMG, which offers gloss black highlights and a black chrome AMG sports exhaust system.

You can also give the S500 a much needed boost; £5000 will get you the Premium Package, which includes 20-inch alloys, illuminated doorsills, with in-car kit comfort and convenience boosted by the Seat Comfort Pack, an air-filtration system, the 360 camera and Keyless-Go. So as you can see, the premium pack gives the car a few more bells and whistles to play with. But the obvious choice would be one of the AMG versions, due to the luxury feel coupled with great performance.
