New Mercedes Benz C Class up for Award
Published Date: 9th Nov 2007
The Mercedes C-Class has been nominated for the Car of the Year 2008, one of the top automotive industry awards around, according to Motor Trader.
Some 58 motoring writers from across 22 European countries will cast their votes over a shortlist of seven.
The winner of the accolade will be announced on Monday 18 November once the judges have made their decision.
According to Motor Trader contributing editor Ray Hutton, who is this year’s jury president and is one of the six UK-based judges, the mixture of smart small cars and ‘accomplished larger saloons’ makes for a very open contest.
This year’s seven finalists were chosen from a first round ballot which included 35 eligible cars, all of which were new models that have been launched in Europe over the past year.
At the recently-held 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes premiered the new luxurious C-Class Estate, which is said to provide safety, comfort and agility.
