New Mazda 5 Gets 5 Star NCAP Rating

The new Mazda5 C-MAV has achieved a maximum five star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) safety tests.

The most common type of accident scenario, the off-set front crash, scored the car 84 per cent of the available maximum with the its seat belt reminder winning two bonus points.

It was the side-on collision result that pleased the manufacturer most though. The cheap new Mazda5 C-MAV is the only car in its class to offer two sliding side doors, and the design detail proved not only practical, but safe as well as the car scored the maximum 18 points for side impact safety.

The compact MPV sector is one of the most competitive in the cheap new car market with the likes of the new Vauxhall Zafira, cheap new Citroen Xara Picasso and Renault Megane Scenic all battling for sales. As such the added attraction of a top safety rating could prove key to the cheap new Mazda5's success.
