Over 9,000 new Mazda cars were sold in September this year, beating the manufacturer
Car sales in September are traditionally higher than in other months because of the launch of new number plates in August, and Mazda's 9,000-plus sales gave it 2.2 per cent of the entire cheap new car market.

In terms of sector sales, new Mazda RX-8s accounted for nearly a quarter of all non-premium sports car sales, eclipsing the likes of the Audi TT.
The news adds to a good month for the RX-8 after the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) confirmed that the car now holds 40 24-hour endurance records.
The future also looks bright for Mazda with its cheap new Mazda5 receiving the MPV of the year award from 4x4 and MPV Magazine. Meanwhile the eagerly awaited new MX-5 is due to hit the UK later this month.
