New Ford Mondeo Launch Date Delayed To 2014

If you've eagerly anticipating the new Ford Mondeo going on sale in the UK we've bad news, the release date which originally was scheduled for late 2013 has been put back further to late 2014.... And if you’re looking at the new Ford Mondeo Estate model you’ll need to be even more patience, it’s thought that the estate won’t be available till mid to late 2015 in the UK now. Factory disputes have resulted in Ford having to put back the launch but at least Ford say there will be no further delays!
To keep Mondeo lovers happy in the meantime Ford have given the current 2013 new Ford Mondeo model line-up a few tweaks. The entry-level Graphite model is over £2000 cheaper yet with improved levels of equipment and a Titanium X Business model has been added. There is an improved 2.0 TDCi engine on offer in keeping with current trends this is a cleaner more economical engine option.
New Mondeo Engines
The 2014 Ford Mondeo will get a new 1.5-litre Ecoboost petrol engine which will deliver similar power to the current 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine (148BHP) but with improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Also expected is a 1.0 three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, which will make the Mondeo one of the cleanest cars in it’s class. More details of the complete engine line-up will be disclosed nearer to the launch date, but it’s generally thought to include a 2.0 petrol unit and new 1.5-litre TDCi diesels, there should also be 1.6 and 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol options.
Six-speed manual gearboxes will be offered as standard across the range, with dual-clutch six-speed Powershift transmissions available as an option. An automatic diesel will be available and an eagerly anticipated 4 wheel drive for the first time.
New Mondeo Looks
The new Mondeo will be lower than it’s predecessor with a smooth body giving it a much sleeker look, chunky 19” wheels (Zetec models), and an improved design front grille reinforce the new look.
Inside the 2014 Mondeo has an excellent level of build and quality of materials, with soft-touch plastics and fabrics and Ford have managed to free up some additional passenger space.
New Mondeo Technology
The new Mondeo will feature cutting-edge technology; SYNC, Ford’s in-car entertainment system features music streaming, Bluetooth support and Internet access and the MyFord Touch system will be available with voice activation/control.
Driver-assist systems will include; lane-keeping, fatigue assistant, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, active parking assist and inflatable seat belts.
