At uk car discount we are always being asked about Car Safety and performance and we regularly refer customers to the EURONCAP website so they can have a look at the safety performance of the car they are looking to buy.

The advances in crash avoidance and safety technology is amazing and with more and more alert systems (lane departure warning, blind spot detection system etc.) being made available in every day cars like the All New 2012 Ford Focus the driving experience and safety on the road is improving all the time.

The main safety systems that most modern cars have these days are Anti-lock Braking System, Airbags and Electronic Stability Control but more and more manufacturers are introducing improved safety systems such as lane departure warning, blind spot detection systems, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Adaptive Headlights.

In the very near future there are several mainstream motor manufacturers introducing autonomous braking and collision mitigation systems which will improve driver safety even further by assisting the critical decision making responsibility of the driver and assuring an accident is avoided.

At uk car discount we sell some of the latest New Cars which are brimming with safety technology such as the New 2012 Honda Civic with its collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) which monitors the distance and closing rate between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of it, warning the driver when a collision is likely and even helping reduce the impact when a collision becomes unavoidable by automatically tightening the drivers seat belt and assisting with heavy braking.

Another manufacturer who has made great improvements to the safety and security of their vehicles is Ford with the Passive and Active Safety systems on their mainstream vehicles improving all the time.

Fords Passive Safety Systems include the Intelligent Protection System or IPS which are safety systems designed to spring into action in the fraction of a second in the event of an accident and these include Airbags, Seatbelt pre-tensioners and retractors, collapsible steering column and retractable pedals that are designed to collapse away from the driver in the event of an impact.

Fords Active Safety Systems include Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Traction Assist (TA) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and even the simple systems like Hill Start Assist (HSA) can prevent a driver from rolling back into the car behind them when pulling away on a gradient.

For many drivers it is not until they have an accident they realise just how many vehicle safety systems they have on their vehicle and its amazing how much safety systems are becoming a battle ground between manufacturers in the modern car market.
