New Car Deals 2013 - 62 Plate | 13 Plate

Published Date: 22nd Oct 2012

In an effort to avoid a drop in new car sales in March 2013, the DVLA have decided to give customers the option of avoiding the 13 registration plate which is the new registration number for March 2013.

It seems the DVLA will allow the more superstitious new car buyers amongst us to continue with the present 62 plate which started on the 1st of September 2012 and would under normal circumstances run until the 28thof February 2013 when the new March 13 plate would usually start.

This effectively means that any customer who wants to avoid a new car registration with a 13 plate on it can opt to take the car as a 62 plate right up until 1stof September 2013 when the latest new car registration will change to a 63 plate.

The DVLA have obviously taken note of the triskaidekaphobia amongst uk car buyers by allowing new car customers the option of avoiding the often perceived unlucky number 13.

It is also thought that used car values may suffer where the vehicle has the unlucky number 13 contained in its registration as given the choice of a car with a 13 plate and a car with any other number a customer may choose any other number just to avoid the superstitious number.

In a straw poll in the uk car discount office most people were not bothered by the 13 registration number although its just as well there is no Friday 13th in March 2013 as we can imagine customers would want to avoid taking delivery of a new 13 plate vehicle on Friday 13th

If you are in the market for a new car for delivery in 2013 and want to avoid the March 13 plate all you need to do is call our Sales Hotline on 0845 170 7770 and we will be happy to accommodate.
