New 2014 Seat Leon ST Estate

Published Date: 2nd Sep 2013

The 2014 new Seat Leon ST is a new estate version of the very popular Leon Hatchback.  For the first time an estate version will be available for delivery in January which should complete the Seat Leon range along with the 3 and 5 door Seat Leon Hatchbacks all built on the same platform as the VW Golf.

This new estate model is 453.5cm long, which makes it just over 27cm  longer than the hatchback model and it offers a generous 587 litres of boot space with the rear seats up which trumps many of it’s rivals including the Ford Focus Estate and Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer and is 207 litres more than the Leon hatchback. All models come with a multi-level boot floor, similar to the VW Golf and Octavia, which delivers a flat load area.

Inside the cabin there’s plenty of room with generous space in the front and more than enough head and leg room in the rear for three adults.

The Seat Leon ST offers a quality of materials and finish inside that is excellent it may not be quite as a good as the superb VW Golf but then you’ll pay considerably more for a Golf and the Leon is a very worthy alternative for those that may not have the budget for a Golf.

There's a multi-function display situated between the rev-counter and speedometer and a  touch-screen infotainment system.

Although not officially confirmed the Leon Estate is expected to be available in the same range as the Seat Leon Hatchback model with S, SE and FR trim-levels and much the same equipment levels.

Engine options are expected to match the hatchback models also. The entry-level petrol model is a 104bhp 1.2 litre turbocharged option and there’s  also a 138bhp 1.4 turbo (the same engine used  in the Audi A3 and VW Golf) while the most powerful petrol engine will be the 178bhp 1.8 turbo.

The diesel options include the new 1.6 TDI Ecomotive, which boasts just 88g/km of CO2 emissions, there should also be a regular 1.6 diesel (104bhp), a 2.0 diesel (148bhp), and a quicker 2.0 litre (182bhp) option.
