Mazda 6 What Car Award

Published Date: 16th Dec 2005

The Mazda 6 has been crowned used car of the year 2005 by What Car? Magazine.

Owners of the car admire its looks, which contributed to its top score in the JD Power Satisfaction Index.

What Car editor, David Motton, said: "In the 6 Mazda has a superb family car that doesn't sacrifice its personality in the pursuit of practicality. In fact, it delivers both in spades.

"Brand new models recently had a minor facelift, but to our eyes, the original 6 still looks fresh, sporty and full of intent."

He added that choosing the car of the year is usually a hard task, but the many areas that the Mazda 6 excels in made it stand out above its peers.

The magazine cites the car's cost-efficiency as one reason for its increasing popularity among family buyers, who require a car that suits their budgetary requirements.

Its strong safety record is also reassuring to families, as it recently scored four stars in EuroNCAP tests for occupant protection.

As a cheap nearly new car, the Mazda 6 provides the complete package - looks, style affordability and safety, making it no surprise that it won the award.
