New Ford Mondeo 15 plate Line-up gets 210PS 2.0-Liter Bi-turbo Diesel
Published Date: 24th Nov 2014
Ford have said that the all-new 2015 15 plate Mondeo will be available with a new 2.0-liter diesel engine featuring twin sequential-turbocharging delivering 210PS and 450Nm of torque from around 2,000 rpm.
This new unit will feature electronically-controlled twin sequential turbocharging which enables quicker engine response and will be available in 2015 on the new 15 plate Ford Mondeo. A small, low-inertia turbine is used to respond quickly to boost demand, and also a larger high-inertia turbo delivers higher boost pressure for peak performance.
This new high-powered diesel will be available in early 2015 and will replace the current 200PS 2.2-liter TDCi engine, with Ford promising reduced CO2 emissions for the new engine unit.
The Mondeo’s 2015 diesel lineup will also feature a 2.0-liter TDCi unit with single turbocharger technology, available in two versions: 150PS and 180PS. All three 2.0-litre TDCi models will feature a re-mastered engine block, new cylinder heads and a new re-designed fuel injection system, as well as Ford’s NOX trap exhaust after-treatment system for class-leading cleaner emissions.
The 150PS and 180PS 2015 diesel Mondeo’s will be available with Ford’s intelligent four-Wheel Drive system. The ECOnetic model will also be available, taking its power from a 1.6-liter diesel with CO2 emissions of 94 g/km.
The new Ford Mondeo’s petrol line-up will have the ever-popular 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine with 125PS available in early 2015 on the March 15 plate, the 1.5-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder with 160PS and the 2.0-liter EcoBoost available in two states of tune: 203PS and 240PS.
The all-new 2015 Mondeo will also feature the nameplate’s first-ever hybrid model, which will combine a specially-developed 2.0-liter petrol engine combined with two electric motors (one to drive the wheels and another to supply regenerative charge) and a 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery which should last 10 years or 150,000 miles (241,402 km). The Mondeo Hybrid is expected to emit 99 g/km CO2.
The new 15 Plate Ford Mondeo will incorporate a new pedestrian detection tech that can recognise people in the road, or who could cross the vehicle’s path, and automatically apply the brakes if the driver does not respond to warnings.
