The future of family cars will be in the form of Ford Mondeo

Its release will follow a busy 2006 for Ford, as the manufacturer launches new models of the Galaxy, SAV and Focus Coupe-Cabriloet, according to website askaprice.

The new Ford Mondeo's engine is likely to be a 2.2 litre diesel featuring 170bhp with twin-turbos.

At an estimated cost of?16,000, the new Ford Mondeo is sure to set the standard for family cars when it is released next year.

Meanwhile, the Ford Fiesta celebrated its 30th anniversary of sales in the UK with a photo-shoot in London featuring model and fitness DVD star, Nell McAndrew.

The cheap cars were available at a pinch for ?1,856 in 1976 and though retailing for slightly more now, they have gone on to sell 3.2 million units in the UK alone.
