New Car Sales Data

Data from Jato Dynamics shows that car sales reached 1.24 million vehicles in July, with new car registrations dropping slightly, and figures for the first seven months of the year are on a par with 2004.

Volkswagen topped brand performance, with a 1.1 per cent rise in sales last month, and Renault was the market leader for the first seven months of July. The Volkswagen Golf was the top model again in July and it is the best selling vehicle this year, while the Ford Focus took second place in July, followed by the Opel/Vauxhall Astra and Peugeot 206.

Germany recorded a rise in sales of 7.2 per cent for July, while UK sales declined 6.6 per cent and sales in Spain were down by one per cent.
