Andreas Stephens was the First to put down the $1500 deposit at the Sydney Tesla dealership, for a car that not been officially unveiled and is not due to be released until 2018. With very little revealed so far in specification, trim level or features but some things are due to be revealed this Friday by Tesla CEO, Elon Musk in part 1 with part two coming closer to the production start.
Other customers across the world queued up at dealers in Canada and California, with owners of the previous model X and S getting priority for the new car.
Mr Stephens who is yet to build a garage for his new Tesla model 3, is quoted as saying
"To me it's the first lower priced electric car, from a manufacturer who thinks that electric cars are the future," and "In terms of the environment, it would be wonderful if we had electric cars in Sydney."
The motor industry is expecting a 65 killawatt-hour battery and a 225 mile range in between each charge, and with the model 3 coming in at $35,000 or £25,000 it is indeed an affordable cheap new car from Tesla.
