New Nissan Note
Published Date: 21st Jun 2007
The Nissan Note is not an easy car to categorise. It is usually described within the category of supermini MPV. However, it is larger than other comparable cars in that sector, eg, the Vauxhall Meriva. It also looks quite different from these other models.
The partnership between Nissan and Renault means that the Nissan Note is based on a lengthened platform of the Renault Modus and the 1.5litre 86bhp dCi engine is shared with the Renault Clio.
The 1.5litre dCi engine gives the car great fuel economy, producing 55.8mpg. The Note feels very spacious inside due to its lengthy wheelbase of 2.60m – which is longer than the likes of the MK5 VW Golf.
The inside space can be used flexibly as the rear bench seat can both slide forward or fold over to give more storage space in the boot.
The Nissan Note was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2004 as part of a conscious move by Nissan to move into more ‘niche’ markets. Other Nissan models recently introduced as part of this strategy are the 350z, the Micra C C and the X-Trail.
