MG5 Performance & Efficiency
In ECO mode official figures suggest you can get a range of up to 214 miles (WLTP combined) and urban driving at lower speeds, a range of up to 277 miles on a full charge, although we think the latter will be a stretch.
One of the big surprises is the MG5 can supply some pep when you need it, with 154bhp and 260Nm of torque, put it in Sport mode and 0-62mph is achievable in 7.7 seconds which feels nippy for a good-sized, practical estate.
Bear in mind Sport mode will significantly reduce your range, it is a nice to have it in reserve though! Sport mode isn’t going to make any difference to handling/drive, it’s purely releases the full power potential when needed, the MG5’s soft ride is built for comfort.
MG5 Trim Levels
The model line-up is a simple affair with just two models, the Excite and Exclusive.
Entry-level Excite models have all the basics covered and more than enough driver aids. Inside you get air con, front and rear electric windows, 8-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, sat nav and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for smartphone mirroring, there is also a 7-inch part digital driver display.
There is more than enough driver tech too with a rear parking camera, rear parking sensors, cruise control, automatic headlights and LED daytime running lights.
The Exclusive model builds on the entry-level Excite by adding part-leather style interior, automatic air con, heated front seats with electrically adjustable drivers, keyless entry and push-button engine start, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, automatic windscreen wipers and silver roof rails.
When you consider the MG4 is spacious, offers excellent levels of equipment, practicality, an impressive range of 214 miles and a fantastic price-point, it is hard to match.
