The New 2022 Kia Niro EV

Kia has been showcasing two of its EV models recently at the Fully Charged Live show, an EV and clean energy exhibition.
Kia brought a pre-production model of the top-grade Niro ‘4’ to the show so would-be buyers could check the technology and features of the new electric version of its popular compact SUV. Also, on show was the EV6 which was available for test drive.
The all-new Kia Niro EV packs a 64.8kWh battery and 150kW electric motor, outputting 201bhp, making for a punchy 0.60mph, reported figures say a little over 6 seconds.
The new Kiro EV offers a range of up to 239 miles, so range fear shouldn’t be an issue, while the EV6 model can give you up to 326 miles on a full charge.
Kia has been gaining some real traction in the EV car market in the UK, the Niro was the second best-selling electric car in 2021 and in the first quarter of 2022 electric cars accounted for 18% of KIAs overall sales on new cars.
Kia currently has 10 electrified (hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric) models in its line-up with the Niro EV, EV6 and Soul EV models its current full EV offerings.
Kia says it plans to offer a total of 14 EV models by 2027, as we head towards the government ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030 (with a further target of 2035 for the ban on hybrids).
