Design

Auris has an all-new look true to Toyota’s contemporary design. At the front it displays the new Toyota ‘family’ design, with modern detail such as the new headlight units, that highlight the car’s width and low profile. The new model sits lower to the ground, with a ride height 10mm lower than its predecessor.

Interior Styling and Comfort

The new Toyota Auris is 3cm longer than the old model, but with its height brought down by 55mm, so it remains one of the most compact models in its class.

The interior uses a familiar Toyota new modern styling and clever use of space.

The Auris sports front seats that have a bigger range of adjustment, and a wider steering wheel adjustment make it easier for drivers of all sizes to find the best  driving position for them.
There is also a bigger boot.

Improved Drive

The new Toyota Auris has a lower centre of gravity and lower seating position for the driver to give an improved driving experience.
Although Auris’s basic suspension remains unchanged, both front and rear systems have undergone some fine tuning to deliver a better drive, responsiveness and comfort. The electric power steering has also been improved with a quicker steering ratio.

Emissions and Fuel Economy

The new Toyota Auris shows a significant drop in average CO2 emissions across the model range, on average falling 13 per cent compared to the previous model range.

The 1.33 Dual VVT-I petrol and 1.4 D-4D diesel engines come as standard with Toyota’s Stop & Start system, which helps reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, biggest benefits to fuel economy will be noticed in around-town driving.

The Stop and Start system shuts down the engine when the car comes to a stop and is put into neutral. The engine is then automatically restarted within half a second of the clutch pedal being pressed to put the vehicle into gear ready to move off.
Auris’s petrol and diesel engines also save on fuel by using a new Charging Control System, which regulates the amount of power the alternator takes from the engine. When the car is slowing down, power generation voltage is increased to maximise battery charging; at other times the load on the engine is reduced.
