2010 Ford Focus ECOnetic
Published Date: 8th Dec 2009
The new 2010 Ford Focus ECOnetic is using new technology to further its success and deliver the most fuel-efficient Focus to date.
At the 2009 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford unveiled the new Ford Focus ECOnetic five-door, which is available with a new optional Ford Auto-Start-Stop system.
Even if you leave off the Auto-Start-Stop, the Ford Focus ECOnetic has new technologies not seen on the European line-up before. The Smart Regenerative Charging and Low Tension FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive) combine to deliver lower emissions and better fuel efficiency.
Ford Eco Mode which is a new driver information system that educates the driver to improve fuel economy, comes as standard on all the new Ford Focus ECOnetic models.
The Ford Auto-Start-Stop system automatically shuts down the engine when the car has stopped, for example at traffic lights. The engine will restart again when the driver presses the accelerator or clutch pedal.
The engine starts up quietly within 0.3 seconds. The process is completed before the driver has changed gear and it is near impossible to even notice.
Ford is also launching a five door and estate version of the new Ford Focus ECOnetic without the integratedFord Auto-Start-Stop system. They will be available with the 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCI engine with standard coated Diesel Particulate Filter (cDPF) in both 90PS AND 109PS power ratings.
Even without Ford Auto-Start-Stop the average CO2 emissions are only 104g/km and fuel consumption is 70.6mpg.
