What Is Nissan e-Pedal?
Published Date: 10th Mar 2022
e-Pedal is Nissan’s single pedal driving system found it in its electric and e-Power hybrid cars.
e-Power technology can be found in vehicles like the Nissan Leaf, one of the world’s best-selling electric cars and in new e-Power hybrid models like the new Nissan Qashqai e-Power hybrid expected to be available in the UK mid-2022.
Depending on your model of car, e-Pedal can be activated by a switch, probably on the dashboard. Once enabled you then have single pedal driving capabilities.
Press the accelerator to speed up as normal, and with e-Pedal activated when you release pressure, the car will decelerate slowly, with the equivalent force to moderate braking.
The aim of the system is to make driving more convenient, in stop/start urban traffic it negates the need to keep moving your foot from accelerator to brake pedal.
Once e-Pedal is switched on, your accelerator pedal will feel stiffer and offer more resistance, some drivers report it takes a while to get used to, but once familiar you will feel the benefit.
The beauty of e-Pedal is it’s a totally optional gadget, it might not be for everyone and you can turn it on or off, the choice is yours.
