New VW camper van launched
The cheap new Volkswagen California has been launched, building on the manufacturer's camper van heritage.
The new VW California comes complete with alloy chairs, a picnic table and a fold out awning.
At the business end of the van a five-cylinder 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine offers enough power to haul a full load around the country, while not guzzling too much fuel.
Inside the van happy campers can enjoy a 42-litre fridge, 30-litre water container, a two-hob gas burner and a radio/cassette/CD player for all those old Bob Dylan albums.

An innovative electro-hydraulic raising mechanism allows there to be two sleeping zones, one in the main body of the vehicle and one in a separate roof mounted area.
The cheap new VW Camper van comes with a Europe-wide satellite navigation option to make sure you are on the right road, while ABS, traction control and electronic stabilising programme (ESP) make sure that you stay on it.
Other options include Climatronic air conditioning in the front and/or rear of the vehicle, removable tow bar and a 250cm wide, side-mounted awning.
