Hot new Focus unveiled
After months of teasing from the boys and girls at Ford the rapid new Ford Focus ST has finally been unveiled, and on paper at least it looks set to make quite an impression.
With a muscular 2.5-litre turbocharged engine creating 222bhp the American manufacturer claims that the new Ford Focus ST can reach 60mph in 6.5 seconds, and keep accelerating until it tops 150mph.
A leather steering wheel, sports seats from Recaro and a six-speed gearbox ensure the new Ford Focus ST feels fast even when its sitting still.
With the ST2 option customers can enjoy an MP3-compatible CD player, traction control and Xenon headlamps, while the top spec ST3 gets full leather trim, electric front seats and a six CD-changer.

When it is released on October 1st this year the new Ford Focus ST will be going up against a hot hatch market with more choice than ever before. The cheap new Vauxhall Vectra VRX is already sparring with the much-improved VW Golf GTi meaning that the Focus ST will face some stiff competition when it finally hits our roads.
The one thing that is already certain is that the new Ford Focus ST looks every inch the hot hatch. Aluminium trim around the fog lights compliments the deep new front grille, while lowered suspension sits the wide wheel arches just above a set of 18 inch alloy wheels complete with low profile tyres.
To the rear of the car a large spoiler and chrome tipped twin exhausts ensure that traffic following in the Focus ST's wake gets a good view, albeit fleeting.
