Unsurprisingly the unique record attempt has drawn admiration from many quarters with current land speed record holder Andy Green commenting: \"I have followed the progress of Mike Newman and the Speed of Sight team to their current record of 144mph with fascinated interest.

Mike\'s record of 144.7mph was set in August 2003 in a Jaguar XJ-R across a measured mile. He and his team now believe that the superior top speed of the new BMW M5 can take him through the 200mph barrier.
