Mazda offers great residual deal
Eighteen months after its launch the Mazda RX-8 is proving to be one of the best new car deals on the market as it beat all of its main rivals in terms of residual value.
According to data from residual value experts CAP the standard RX-8 will hold 46 per cent of its value over three years, or 60,000 miles, loosing £10,802.
This compares to the BMW 318 ES Ci Coupe, which will loose £12,462 and the Audi TT Coupe 1.8i, which costs £11,202 over the same period.
Commenting on the findings, Mazda's fleet and remarketing director Adam Pumfrey said: "The Mazda RX-8 brings real motoring excitement to everyday family life at a price which competitors cannot match.
"Given the choice between a standard family saloon or a unique sports car with generous room for children, many company car user-choosers with families are choosing RX-8 to add some excitement to their journeys thanks to the sporty coupe's unique practicality."
Around 13,000 Mazda RX-8s have been sold in the UK since its launch, and Mr Pumfrey puts the car's popularity down to its fun yet functional nature and well-equipped standard model. It is currently stealing business from a range of saloons and coupes from the likes of Audi, Alfa Romeo, BMW and Subaru.
