The speedy new Vauxhall Vectra
A few years ago the cheap new Vauxhall Vectra famously left Jeremy Clarkson speechless. No mean feat, and one that should have delighted Vauxhall's marketing bods.
However it was not a lack of superlatives or stunning performance that left old motor mouth floundering, it was simply that he had nothing to say about what was a very reliable, no frills cheap new car.
Now though, tired of being a wallflower the new Vauxhall Vectra has taken off its spectacles, let down its hair and had a bonkers 250bhp turbocharged V6 engine wedged under its bonnet.

The new Vauxhall Vectra VXR is the quickest new Vectra ever made, racing from 0-60 in just 6.6 seconds and not easing off until it reaches 161mph.
To handle the increased power, the new Vectra has had some essential, and extensive chassis revisions as well as a suspension overhaul to minimise body movements. A set of huge 345mm brake disks are clamped onto brutish 19 inch alloys, while a lower front splitter and Subaru Impreza-esque fog lamps complete the dynamic new look.
The VXR is set to launch in the UK in November this year, and at £25,000 it will be placed firmly at the top of the cheap new Vauxhall Vectra range.
For the more sedate, cheap new Vauxhall Vectras are available at discounts of nearly £6,000 through cheap new car sales websites.
