The New Peugeot 308

The new Peugeot 308 is set to be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September; a Coupe Cabriolet version will then be launched in 2008.

The 308 is larger than the 307 model, resulting in more interior space and storage capacity - maximum storage capacity with the rear seats folded is 1398 litres. It also has improved interior detailing and finish.

The 308 will be available in 10 different engine types – 5 petrol and 5 diesel. These will range from 1.4 litre models up to 2.0 litre versions. Peugeot also intends to introduce an advanced diesel-electric hybrid in 2008. Peugeot say this new model has stop-start technology plus energy recuperation, enabling better fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. BioFuel versions of the 308 are also due to arrive later in 2008.

The Peugeot 308 will be available in the same trim levels as the 307 model – Urban, S, Sport, SE and GT. Standard specification will include 6 airbags, air-conditioning, Peugeot’s lane departure warning system plus other safety and stability features, alloy wheels plus an MP3-compatible stereo system.

The New Peugeot 308

Peugeot 308, which is replacing the Peugeot 307, is now on sale from September this year as a 5-door model only. The 3-door version is then due to go on sale this December.

The new Peugeot 308 will be available in a wide variety of engine types and in a range of 5 trim levels – Urban, S, Sport, SE and GT, with prices ranging from £11,995 for the 1.4 litre Urban 3-door model up to £20,045 for the GT HDi 136 model.

There are 3 petrol engines – a 1.4 litre VTi 95bhp, a 1.6 litre VTi 120bhp and a 1.6 litre THP 150bhp – all with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There are also 3 HDi diesel engines - a 1.6 litre HDi 90bhp, a 1.6 litre HDi 110bhp plus a 2.0 litre HDi 136bhp – the 1.6 engines have a 5-speed manual gearbox whilst the 2.0 litre comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The new Peugeot 308 is slightly larger than the Peugeot 307 model it replaces to give more interior space for passengers and luggage.

Standard specification for all new Peugeot 308 models will include a wide range of airbags, power steering, electric front windows, remote control central locking, driver and passenger seat height adjustment, radio/CD player plus adjustable steering column for reach and rake. The specification then increases with the various trim levels.
