Citroen UK goes green (08/08/2006 at 09:51:27)
Citroen is showcasing its commitment to environmental issues by running all cars at its UK Head Office on biodiesel.

The fuel, which is 30 per cent more energy-efficient than normal car fuels, reduces carbon dioxide emissions by a fifth due to its blend of ordinary diesel with processed vegetable oils.

Citroen states that all of its current vehicles, such as the Berlingo and the C8 can use biodiesel without the need for modification.

Xavier Duchemin, managing director of Citroen UK, comments: "This latest development further endorses Citroen as one of the greenest vehicle manufacturers, offering affordable green alternatives today, rather than just tomorrow."

Citroen has made high-profile efforts to develop cleaner and more efficient fuels for its cars in recent years.

It developed a diesel electric hybrid of the Citroen Berlingo in an effort to cut down on harmful emissions.

The project received around half its funding from the Ultra Low Carbon Challenge scheme held in the UK.
