If you want the performance of a petrol engine with the economical fuel use of a diesel vehicle look no further than the new Volkswagen Polo BlueGT, the new Polo uses ACT cylinder deactivation to maximise efficiency and power.

The new Polo BlueGT takes advantage of a turbocharged 1.4-litre engine producing 140 PS with a top speed of 130 mph and 0- 62 mph in a nippy 7.9 seconds, despite this official figures show a fuel economy of 61.4 mpg (combined) and CO2 emissions of 107 g/km.

The Polo BlueGT utilises a new EA211 engine which shuts down the second and third cylinders automatically under light and medium loads.

The Polo BlueGT itself looks the part inside and out. With 17-inch alloys and GT badges at the front and rear, plus a lowered suspension gives the car a sportier look. The Polo also impresses with an eye-catching bodykit  with bumpers, diffuser and roof spoiler taken from the GTI model, and side sills from the Bluemotion model. The impressive looks are topped off with a black front grille and black door mirrors. Inside the BlueGT is kitted out with  silver and blue sports seats, a GTI-style console and instruments and a leather sports steering wheel.
