Toyota dominates car awards - 20/05/2005

Toyota is celebrating success in this year's JD Power and Associates 2005 Initial Quality StudySM (IQS).

The survey assesses the quality of cars and trucks across the market, measuring attributes in 135 separate categories in the first 90-days of ownership.

This year's survey was based on information provided by 62,000 owners or lessees.

Toyota picked up awards for the quality of the cars produced in its Tahara plant, and its Lexus, Toyota and Scion brands also scooped ten out the 18 models sector awards.

Don Esmond, senior vice president of automotive operations for Toyota, welcomed the news: "As we continue to expand our manufacturing operations globally, it is gratifying to see that we continue to prioritize quality."

Ford also picked up two model awards for its Explorer and F-150 pick-up models.
