Top Gear is back, but only for 1 episode

Published Date: 9th Jun 2015

Following the dismissal of Jeremy Clarkson and refusal of James May and Richard Hammond to commit to new contracts, the BBC has announced an all-new Top Gear episode that includes 2 unseen films from the 22nd series.

This announcement comes as rumours start to surface of the Top Gear boys closing in on a deal with Netflix, Sky are also interested in signing up the trio of car enthusiasts. On the other hand, the BBC has thought to have tabled a very generous offer to James and Richard recently. Whether they will sign is not yet known, and their loyalty to Jeremy has been apparent throughout the saga.

The 2 films were shot to appear in the most recent series, but there air dates were disturbed by the events that unfolded within the camp. The films are typical Top Gear, where each host get a different car and they take on various challenges, slate each other’s cars to death and open car doors on one another where possible – until eventually Jeremy wins in a controversial manner to say the least.

The first film is set on the lifestyle of old car buffs and features a Fiat 124 Spyder, MGB GT and Peugeot 304 Cabriolet. They embark on an adventure around the UK that includes: Beer, car shows, bumps and breakdowns.

The second film is a bargain hunt on £250, each presenter is charged with the mission of obtaining a car for less than £250. And as you can imagine the only cars on offer are high mileage old cars – ready for the scrap yard in most cases. Hammond lands himself a Jeep Cherokee, James a Mitsubishi Shogun and Jeremy got himself a Vauxhall Frontera. Each are less attractive than the rest (the cars I mean), but you can be guaranteed for an action packed frenzy of entertainment.

No Date has been announced for the forthcoming episode but we expect it to be announced in the next few weeks, even a straight to I-player release has been mentioned in the build-up to this much anticipated return of the Top Gear old boys.
