BMW 1 Series model comes to the range in Spring 2007. Based on the 265hp 130i, all 130i M Sport Limited Edition models will be built in Carbon Black metallic paint with a Lemon leather interior and come with 18-inch World Touring Car Championship-style light alloy wheels.
The new BMW 1 Series goes on sale in Spring 2007 and it features a model line up that includes the most fuel efficient production vehicle the marque has ever produced. The introduction of a 3-door model and a revised 5-door come as a raft of new fuel saving innovations are rolled out across the range.
BMW is updating its 1-Series in Spring 2007, including improvements to the engine, a new sporty 3-door version and revisions to the 5-door model. Although there will be some minor styling changes the main change will be the introduction of more efficient engines to the 1-Series.
The M6 is a new lightweight two-door coupe costing and 400 units have already been allocated to the UK market for 2006. A further 550 units of the new BMW M5 Saloon have also sold out. The new BMW M6 has a 507bhp, V10, 5.0-litre petrol engine, is capable of 204mph and accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds.
A cheap new BMW 3-Series convertible is set for launch in March 2007 and will feature a folding hard top, according to Automotive News Europe. The roof system is to be built in BMW's Regensburg factory by German firm Edscha, the same people who will work on the drop top for the highly anticipated and cheap new Peugeot 207CC.
Unsurprisingly the unique record attempt has drawn admiration from many quarters with current land speed record holder Andy Green commenting: "I have followed the progress of Mike Newman and the Speed of Sight team to their current record of 144mph with fascinated interest.
Plans for the new BMW Z4M have been confirmed and according to figures released by the manufacturer it looks set to become one of the fastest production drop tops in the UK. Externally, BMW has given the Z4M a characteristically aggressive new body kit, with lowered suspension, an expanded grille and large air intakes.
BMW has launches the latest incarnation of its ever popular 3 Series Touring (or estate to you and me) on home turf this week. Like the new BMW 3 Series Saloon, the Touring will be available with four wheel drive, and as such the 3 Series becomes the fourth BMW variant to feature the xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
What they are yet to confirm though is whether production models will be available with the same matt silver exterior as the show car. New BMW design chief, Adrian van Hooydonk, did give a hint to Auto Express though: "The matt finish helps you to see the surface changes on the Z4.
With a manual six-speed gear box as standard the new BMW 130i reaches 60mph in a startling 6.1 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 155mph. The new BMW 130i is available with two spec levels, the standard SE or the tricked up M Sport option, and it has to be said the M Sport looks the part.
