Renault Clio cleans up at award ceremony

The Renault Clio and its sister model the Modus gained three awards between them at Test Drive magazine's Car of the Year Awards.

The Modus won the Readers' Choice Award and as a cheap new car beat off 15 other competitors being praised for its ingenuity in design and its practicality.

The Clio won gold in the Supermini category having already scooped an award for European Car of the Year for 2006 in November. It has been one of the UK's best-selling cars consistently for the last ten years.

Test Drive magazine commented: "The new Clios excellent, composed ride and its refined, relaxed feel are aimed at customers who have to live in the real world. Long motorway journeys need hold no dread."

"The new Clio may still be a little car, but it has convinced us its big on big-car features. And it will convince anyone who buys it too," it added.

As a cheap new car launched in October, the 2006 Clio has garnered plenty of praise for the quality of its interiors, its style and its driving characteristics.

With starting prices of £12,650 the car is as affordable as it is feature laden.
