The new 307CC is set to go head-to-head with its fellow French made drop-top, the new Renault Megane Coupe Convertible.

With its popular diesel option, the cheap new Renault Megane CC has had the upper hand recently in an increasingly diesel loving market.

Now though Peugeot's French lion is finally biting back with two-litre, 136bhp diesel option that is currently powering the rest of the Peugeot 307 range.

The diesel option should offer cheaper Peugeot 307 motoring

While it is not quite as cheap to buy as the new Renault Megane CC, for the extra £600 new 307 drivers will enjoy slightly more power.

The new Peugeot 307CC has also had some cosmetic tweaks as it tries to dominate a market full of personality packed cheap new cars such as the new Ford StreetKa, new Volkswagen Beetle and new Mazda MX5.

A dramatic nose job gives it the same deep, gaping grill as the estate, hatch and station wagon versions, while the break lights benefit from a new 'red chrome' finish.

The standard new Peugeot 307 CC HDi also comes with 16-inch alloys, front and rear fog lights, air conditioning and pop-up roll bars.
