Nissan go small for new three



Nissan is to introduce three cheap new small cars at the Detroit motor show.

The first is the 2007 Versa, based on Japan's Tilda. The cheap new car will come with a 120 hp, 1.8 litre engine with four cylinders.

It will be available in two models, a five-door hatchback available in the summer and a saloon that will come out later in the year.

The saloon is almost an inch longer than Ford's Focus saloon and will an interesting addition to the market.

Nissan will also launch a redesigned Sentra, with more additions to its standard equipment. It is newly designed having been scrapped initially after criticisms from customer focus groups.

The final new car scheduled for launch is the Urge concept car. Insiders believe this futuristic sports car is aimed at buyers of the cheap new Mazda MX-5 Miata.

The Urge comes with an array of stylish innovative features including a see-through hood.

All cars are scheduled for release by autumn of 2006.
