Nissan wins award for Lane Departure Warning technology - 06/05/2005

Nissan has won the 2005 Best of ITS Award in the best new product category for its Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system.

The LDW technology utilises a vision-based camera and proprietary software algorithms to keep check on the lane markings in front of the vehicle and was developed in conjunction with Iteris Inc.

"We are pleased that ITS America has recognized the value LDW brings to the industry and consumers at large," said Jack Johnson, CEO of Iteris Inc.

Mr Johnson went on: "Iteris remains dedicated to providing the most advanced vision-based technology solutions for our customers, and this award is a testament to our ability to develop systems that help solve the most pressing problems in the automotive industry today."

The technology has already accrued a number of awards, including being named one of the "Ten Gadgets That Will Improve Your Life" by Forbes.com.
