The new model expands Toyota’s SUV/Crossover range and will be offered with a dedicated hybrid powertrain and the option of Toyota's intelligent all-wheel drive system on higher grade models.

The small SUV segment is a less crowded affair than the medium SUV segment where you have a plethora of popular SUVs and Crossovers to choose from these days. The Cross’s main rivals will be vehicles like the Nissan Juke, Ford Puma and Renault Captur.

New Toyota Yaris Cross Exterior

At first glance the Yaris Cross looks very much like a mini RAV4, Toyota’s mid-sized SUV with bold styling and quality interior. It is eye-catching and will stand out in the compact SUV segment.

Although strictly speaking it’s a Crossover like rival vehicles the Nissan Juke and Puma, with the added option of intelligent AWD and the more rugged styling on higher grade models you can argue it leans much closer to an SUV whilst still being very much an urban car and extremely stylish.

New Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid Engine

It is built on the same platform as the standard new Toyota Yaris and shares the same 1.5 litre petrol-electric hybrid unit. CO2 emissions can dip below 120g/km on 2-wheel drive models but bear in mind that figure will take a hit if you go for a model equipped with intelligent all-wheel drive (in the region of 135g/km).

Higher grade models get the option of i-AWD (intelligent al-wheel drive) which sets the Yaris Cross apart from other compact SUVs. The electronic system defaults to front-wheel drive and can adapt to driving conditions, feeding torque to the rear wheels when required.https://engine.jacit.co.uk/blog/posts/2031#

New Toyota Yaris Cross Interior

The all new Toyota Yaris Cross shares a lot of similarities with the interior of the standard Yaris in terms of excellent build quality and functionality.

Although it is built on the same platform it does have a longer wheelbase meaning more interior space and more ground clearance means a higher driving position.

Lower grade models get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support, while higher-grade models get a 9-inch screen with Toyota’s top-of-the-range infotainment system with integrated navigation, live traffic, and speed camera alerts.

If you are looking for some extra comforts like heated front seats and dual zone automatic air con, then you need to skip the entry-level Icon and Design models and start your research with the Excel trim-level, but all models are pretty-well equipped.
