New BMW Concept X1

Published Date: 28th Nov 2008

BMW has recently unveiled its new BMW X1 concept model at the Paris Motor Show. The BMW X1 concept will be the world’s first SUV in the premium compact segment when it goes on sale in autumn 2009.

The X1 will be slightly shorter than the BMW X3 and will have BMW’s xDrive 4-wheel drive system. Initially it will not really have any direct rivals as Audi’s new Q3 is not due to be available for approximately 2 years so BMW are hopeful that sales will be good.

Engines will start with a 2.0 litre/170bhp petrol called the xDrive 20i going up to a 6-cylinder xDrive 30i. Diesel engines will probably start with a 2.0 litre/143bhp version which comes under BMW’s EfficientDynamics programme.

BMW say that prices will start at around £20,000, going up to £30,000 for the top of the range model. View UK Car Discount for great deals on new BMW models.
