New Mercedes S-Class revealed

Details of the new Mercedes S-Class have been released, and when the car goes on sale next spring it looks set to make a big impression.

This is not least because it has been considerably lengthened, with the long wheelbase option now coming in at 5.2 metres. The luggage space has also been increased by over ten per cent to 560 litres.

Mercedes may have had to increase the size of the car simply to accommodate all the new technology that they have crammed in. Under heavy braking the new Brake Assist PLUS system uses radar to judge the stopping distance and assist the breaking accordingly.

The system will also tension the front seat belts, expand air cushions to provide extra seat support and automatically close any windows.

While the engineers have squeezed more technology into the car they have also squeezed more power out of the engines. At 231 bhp the new Mercedes S 320 CDI produces 13 per cent more power than its current equivalent.

With prices to match its hefty size the Mercedes S-Class will certainly be no cheap car deal but as it has to compete against the likes of BMW, Jaguar and even Bentley and Maybach this is understandable.

Fans of the silver star who are looking for low cost Mercedes deals should turn their attention to the Mercedes C-Class, E-Class and M-Class, all of which are available with online discounts.
