New Punto wins top safety rating
The cheap new Fiat Punto Grande has received top ratings in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) crash tests.

The roomy new Punto will be able to boast a maximum five-star safety rating when it goes on sale in the UK early next year. As such it will be one of the best cars in its class for adult occupant protection.
Under the NCAP programme cars are put through a vigorous series of tests, which assess safety in the event of various types of collision. Across this range the new Fiat Punto Grande was awarded 33 points out of a possible 37, putting it in the five star bracket.

As well as scoring 98 per cent in the side impact test the new Punto also received two bonus points for it seatbelt reminder.
According to the manufacturer the cheap new Fiata Punto also did well in tests designed to review child and pedestrian safety in the event of an accident.
The new Punto promises one of the largest interiors in its class and will be available in 1.2, 1.6 and 1.8-litre petrol engine options. A turbocharged version of the 1.6 petrol as well 1.3 and 1.9-litre diesel models will complete the line up.
