Panda takes Auto Express award
The new Fiat Panda has been named as won the best city car award in this year's Auto Express magazine Annual New Car Honours awards.

By taking the title, the supermini joined other class winners including the new Mini Convertible and new Ford Focus.
The Panda beat off competition from a range of other hatchbacks and city cars such as Nissan's new Micra, the not so new Vauxhall Corsa and the cheap new Ford Fiesta, which continues to make impressive sales.
This is the second year in a row that the Fiat Panda has taken the best city car award. However the car was not as successful as last year when it took the budget prize for cheap new cars, the city car title and the Car of the Year award, which this year went to the new Ford Focus.

The awards also came too early for the new breed of low cost new city cars, which are hitting the market this summer. The Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo all share the same production line and will offer almost identical features at very similar prices.
The range are essentially new low cost cars designed to be city runabouts with light handling, good visibility and excellent fuel consumption.
All three were recently named joint best in class by channels 4's motoring website, 4Car.
