Citroen Xsara is world beater
Driving a new Citroen Xsara, world rally champion Sebastian Loeb has handed the French manufacturer its third consecutive World Rally manufacturer's title.
|
Loeb piloted his new Citroen Xsara to victory in the Rally of Catalunya overnight. In doing so secured Citroen's hat-trick by beating team mate Francois Duval into second by one minute 19 seconds.
"This season has been so amazing. This weekend with two Citroens on the podium, and the title, is the climax to an unforgettable year," commented Loeb after his victory.
"It's been the result of many circumstances: luck, a good car and good tyres."

With one rally left this season the new Citroen Xsara one-two puts the team out of reach of the second-placed new Peugeot 206s driven by Marcus Gronholm and Markko Martin.
Victory in the World Rally Championship (WRC) has historically proved very beneficial in terms of cheap new car sales for the winning team.
In the UK Colin McRae's victory brought the cheap new Subaru Impreza into the mainstream. Citroen will now be hoping that the positive press generated by its triple victory will give a similar boost to the cheap new Citroen Xsara.
