Called the Citroen Berlingo XTR Plus, the new car will feature a limited slip differential in an effort to avoid the expensive engineering of a four-wheel drive system.

It will also get a multi-plate, friction locking differential to the 90bhp van that aims to take the strain off the driver.

Farmers Weekly Interactive comments that "In keeping with the enhanced traction theme and the likelihood that the van could stray off-road, Citroen has fitted the XTR Plus with larger diameter 380mm (15in) mud and snow tyres that replace the 360mm (14in) standard items, underbody skid plates and 40mm of extra ground clearance."

The Citroen Berlingo XTR Plus will retail at around £1,500 more than standard editions of the vehicle.

It will also be available with a host of new car finance deals to make the van more affordable, including personal contract purchase plans and hire purchase contracts.
