New Audi A4 cabriolet to launch

The new Audi A4 cabriolet will be unveiled on September 15th at the Frankfurt International Motorshow.

A result of a new engine and extensive chassis alterations the new Audi A4 soft-top carries the same deep, single piece grille that is now in place across the entire new Audi range.

Aside from the new grille the German manufacturer has chosen to leave the new A4 cabriolet with the same clean, understated lines that have made it a favourite over the last decade. Only the rear light cluster and alloy wheels get a re-design.

Under the bonnet and three new power plants will be available when the new Audi A4 goes on sale in November this year. Typically refined 2.0 litre and 3.2 litre V6 petrol engines are joined by a 3.0 litre V6 TDI oil burner, which has had its power boosted from 204PS to 233PS.

A five, six or seven speed gear box with an array of tiptronic, multitronic and manual options drives to power to either the front wheels or all four depending on the exact model.

To keep the increased power in check larger diameter brakes and a revised suspension system have also been added to the new Audi A4 cabriolet.

As well as the cheap new Audi A4, September's Frankfurt motorshow will also see the official launch of Audi's first foray into the SUV market. Up until now the firm's absence has been conspicuous against the likes of the new BMW X5, and it has taken 20 years for the Quattro 4x4 system to reach a true off roader. Once available for test drive we will see whether the wait has been worth it.
