Alfa Romeo SUV Announced

Alfa Romeo have announced that an SUV on the way, and is set to hit the roads in 2016 and will do battle with the Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan with its all-new engine range.

This will be one of two new SUVs that Alfa Romeo plan to launch in the near future and is part of the plan to launch eight fresh models by 2018, and give the Italian car maker a much needed clean slate.

To go with all these new models, Alfa’s development team are making a family of new four and six-cylinder engines for its brand new line-up. The new range topper, the petrol V6 turbo is set to muster up to 500bhp, with the top diesel unit outputting 350bhp, wiping the floor with the 309bhp Audi SQ5.

Alfa Romeo are also expected to offer an average-sized Audi Q5 and BMW X3 rival to begin with (shown in our pictures) and is due for release in 2016, this is the fastest-growing section of the motor industry for SUVs, and these new potent engines would give Alfa a chance to draw battle lines against the Audi SQ5 and Porsche Macan.

Alfa Romeo also has plans for a Volvo XC90-sized vehicle and is likely to be the second SUV to join the line-up. Both cars are believed to be based on Alfa’s all-new rear/four-wheel-drive structure, while offering perfect 50:50 weight distribution and finally give the Alfa Romeo the agile handling capability to match BMW and Jaguar.

And of course, with this being an Alfa Romeo, styling is on another level and these exclusive images shows how the car-maker intends to entice customers away from its German rivals with its low-fitted roofline, angled front and defined arches.

The Italian Car Manufacturer plans to also include a new BMW 3 Series rival – called the Alfa Romeo Giulia in 2015, and a larger 5 Series rival. The new Alfa 4C Spider is also expected to hit the shelves in 2014, while the new Alfa Romeo Spider could now be badged as a Fiat or an Abarth, after Marchionne announced “no Alfa will ever be built outside of Italy” as long as he is in charge.
